it must have been when i was three and my brother was five that we sat in on the webster webfoot radio show in dallas, texas. i say that because the show went off the air in dallas in 1948, and i was born in 1945. when it came back to dallas in 1950, it was already a tv show; and i don't think i was on tv that young. webster's creator, jimmy weldon, who was also the voice for yakky doodle on the yogi bear show, is 93 now and still makes public appearances. he has a website and there are some interesting videos of webster and yakky. there was an email address for jimmy, and i have written him a note. i had a newspaper clipping related to the event, but i have lost my childhood scrapbook. i alerted my brother to the subject, but he does not have his scrapbook either. it was an innocent time. my mother's father was general auditor of the t&p railroad and lived in dallas. we lived in fort worth, but i spent a lot of time in dallas, and even started the first grade there when i was 5 years old.

good morning. don't have a lot to report. heard thunder early this morning, but not much rain. still, a front came through. it is much cooler now. i just went out to the store, but the grocery store was closed due to a power outage. so i walked on down to the dollar store and bought some epsom salts to soak my foot. i had a toenail removed yesterday. i've got twenty stitches in my back from back surgery. they come out early next week. it's a nuisance sometimes...getting older; but it has its compensations. i have rather a lot to do the next few weeks. if i don't get back, have a happy thanksgiving. gerald allen
